Cabinet approves series of appointments

The Cabinet approved Wednesday a series of appointments hereby rendering vacant judicial offices roomed, after many vacuums had for long simmered ministers' related discussions.
The Cabinet appointed Judge Hatem Madi as the State Prosecutor, Jean Daoud Fahed as the Head of the Higher Judicial Council, Marwan Abboud as the Head of the Higher Disciplinary Committee, Ivette Antoun as a Committee's member, Ali Serhal as a government commissioner, Fawzi Khamis as General Prosecutor before the Court of Audit, Ali Ahmar as a general educational l inspector, and Fatem Jomaa as a general inspector at the Central Inspection Administration.
Houssameddine Mohammad Qobeiter was also appointed as the chairman of Rashid Karami International Forum.
The Cabinet convened today at the Baabda presidential palace to look into a 72-item agenda and broached the appointments issue from outside the session's schedule.
At the beginning of the session, President of the Republic Michel Sleiman gave lowdown on the outcomes of his fresh visit in Latin America.
Sleiman is chairing today's ministerial meeting, with Premier Najib Mikati attending.
The pair had met in a one-to-one before the session convened, whereby they discussed the current general situation and most recent developments.
