NNA - Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, on Tuesday affirmed his determination to proceed with the cabinet formation process “despite the many obstacles being placed in our way, let alone the conditions and insinuations that aim to create a fait accompli amidst the most dangerous stage of our history.”

“We are determined to continue working in accordance with the requirements of the constitution and the nation’s best interest; no one will be allowed to sabotage and obstruct the constitutional process,” Mikati added.

The PM hoped that "the House of Parliament will succeed in electing a new president within the constitutional deadline, because the existing challenges require cooperation and integration among constitutional institutions."

Moreover, Mikati censured what he described as "non-innocent campaigns against the Taif Accord,” stressing that "thanks to this agreement, guns were stopped and state institutions returned to performing their normal role; this agreement is not sacred, but it certainly is better than chaos and demagogy."

Mikati’s words came during the launch of the "Youth Forum for Lebanon's Advancement towards a New Centenary", under the slogan of "Education first...Lebanon is a country of knowledge" at the Phenicia Hotel.

The event has been jointly organized by the "National Initiative for the Centenary of Greater Lebanon" and " Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development.”

NNA - Caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati has informed US mediator Amos Hochstein of Lebanon's unified position on the maritime border demarcation and its keenness on resuming the US mediation.

Mikati also told the energy envoy that Lebanon's interest lies in beginning oil drilling operations and in clinging to its right to all its natural resources.

Hochstein visited the Grand Serail on Tuesday accompanied by US Ambassador Dorothy Shea.

NNA - Caretaker Prime Minister, Najib Mikati, stressed the need for "the Parliament to choose whomever it deems fit to form the new government,” underlining that the Cabinet formation process must take place without conditions and complications imposed by any party in the face of the prime minister-designate.

The Caretaker Prime Minister also indicated that “the presidential elections may be delayed, but will happen."

Premier Mikati’s words came during a dialogue meeting at the invitation of the "Institute of Politics and Society" held in the Jordanian capital, Amman, in the presence of the Institute’s Honorary President, Sharif Shaker bin Zaid, and Chairman of the Board of Trustees Azmi Mohafazah.

The two premiers stressed the distinguished Jordanian-Lebanese relations and commitment to bolstering cooperation in various fields to benefit both countries.

Khasawneh reaffirmed Jordan's support, led by His Majesty King Abdullah II, to address current challenges and boost Lebanon’s stability.

Mikati expressed pride and gratitude for His Majesty's supportive stances on several occasions, underscoring his commitment to enhancing bilateral ties in various fields.
